TORONTO, ONTARIO- Beginning June 2, 2011, the Joseph D. CarrierArt Gallery (Toronto, Ontario) and Under the Moon Fine Arts (Hamilton, Ontario) present “An Ordinary Aspect”, a unique exhibition featuring paintings of Women by 8 Canadian professional women artists.
Behind the ordinary aspect of things there exists a sense of reality, one that recedes from a particular moment in life, but one that is distinct from specific time and place. The contemporary artists participating in “An Ordinary Aspect”, offer images from their experiences that are anchored in the temporal moments of a sense of reality. The images document the concerns women have for the ownership and health of their bodies; for the social and cultural roles they take on; and for the challenges that stereotypes present to a woman’s feeling of self worth.
